are there multiple events? distance, accuracy, fights, etc.?

    • January 21, 2010 at 5:09 pm | #19

All great questions. It is likely that an individual competition would consist of a battle of skills – distance, accurary, precision. However a team competition would be modeled after a game of dodge ball with one team reigning supreme!

I really like the idea of having it an official Olympic sport. That means sponsorships for the athletes right? I already have my pre-schoolers in training (maybe someday they can support me in retirement with their Coca-Cola sponsorship). They’re a little wimpy and cry like babies when I hit them in the face with a snowball but I figure no better way to teach them how to dodge. Luckily my daughter, who’s not the most athletic, has a built in dodge as she usually falls whenever she tries to throw anyway.

Of course it is a great sport. You do not have to spend much on equipment you just need snow. Which keeps missing New England and goes to DC where they do not know what to do with anything.

I introduced a group of Chinese to the art of snowball throwing and they loved it. They didn’t know what great material snow was to work with and got right at practicing. They seemed very interested in joining the movement!

I’ve been training 18 hours a day coach. My snowballs are round, firmly packed and ready for some serious action. I am ready to join and make snowball throwing an official part of the next Winter Olympics!

Dear President of the International Federation of Snowball Throwing,

We noticed your Homepage http://www.snowballthrowing.com and we’re honestly very glad about that great development in snowball throwing.

First let me introduce ourselves: We, a big group of snowball –Enthusiasts from Germany, created in 2006 the one and only snow throwing world championships. At the same time we coin the world cup and the European championships.

This amazing Spectacular is running for the fourth time in Germany /Winterberg, yet.
At the Moment we can proudly proclaim that 24 team of more than 7 nations accredit to the 4. ISOSTEEL Snow throwing world championships. Snowball throwing is very popular here in Germany, our fights at the battlefield attract many participants.

So our ambition is it to keep the snowball throwing alive and of course, to add snowball throwing to the Olympic Games. As a result we like to show you our support for OUR mission!

We like to invite you as the official IFST president to the official snowball throwing world championships 2010 on March 6th -7th. . Of course we can line up a US- Team, if it’s possible to you to nominate one. It would give us a great pleasure to receive you and your team! So come and enjoy!

If it’s not possible to join we would be pleased to receive a little video message from you. This will add on our Homepage http://www.schneeball-schlacht.de and present on our Championships as well.

Our final request please add our badge on your Page in return we will also add yours. For the badge you can contact us.
Let’s work together to make our dream come true: Snowball throwing as a Olympic discipline!

We’re looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Your Snow-Enthusiasts

I pondered this question today indepedant of your movement. Why the heck aren’t snowball fights or snow ball throwing in the olympics. This prompted a quick google search and landed me here. Glad to see someone out there shares my dream!
